I was born in Seattle, WA and moved to Provo, UT at the age of 3. I started dancing at a local family-friendly studio from age 7-13. At 13, I went to a competition studio in the nearby area till I was 18. I competed and attended conventions such as JUMP and LADM. My sophomore through senior year I was part of my high school dance company. I was Dance Company President my senior year.
After graduation, I went to Brigham Young University and became a Dance Education Major. I belonged to the Folk Dance Back-up Team, a teaching dance team called Kinnect, and a student-based team called dancEnsemble. In the winter of 2014, I taught life skills through dance to children from leprosy colonies with Promethean Spark International in Southern India. To read about my adventures in India, visit http://kylasindianadventures.blogspot.com/. In 2016 I presented about my India experience at the National Dance Education Organization Conference in Washington, D.C. It was my second time attending the conference.
In 2015, I was on BYU's top contemporary performing group called Contemporary Dance Theater, where I was able to tour to Eastern Europe. In 2016, I was on BYU's Young Ambassadors, a singing and dancing group with my husband, where we were able to tour to South Africa and Zimbabwe. I also was involved in the Dance Major Council, was President of the Student Dance Education Organization, and an ArtsBridge Scholar.
Post-college I performed with Wasatch Contemporary Dance Company based out of Provo, Utah for 4 seasons, serving as the Wasatch II Company President for the last two seasons. At the time, I was also teaching dance full-time at Provo Canyon School Springville Campus, a residential treatment center for high school girls. The summer of 2018 my husband and I performed with Robert Redford's Sundance outdoor theater in Utah in their production of "Oklahoma!" I served as an ensemble member and dance captain for the production.
My husband and I are now located in Boston, Massachusetts. I worked at Coolidge Corner School with their Extended Day program where I also hosted multiple dance clubs, an American Sign Language club, and an Ultimate Frisbee club. For one season, I danced with Tilted, a local contemporary collective. I also completed a 6-week intensive program with Boston Community Dance Project, ending in a performance. The summer of 2020, I was accepted into the Boston Community Dance Project company and took classes as well as performed with them via Zoom during the COVID pandemic.
Most recently, we had a sweet baby girl and are raising her as well as teaching part-time at various dance studios and private lessons in the area.
I have a passion for performing and sharing that passion with others!
